Not every business needs a 500-person conference or a multi-day convention to create something meaningful. Some of the most important moments happen in smaller rooms: leadership meetings, client presentations, training days, workshops, assessment centres, team away days and celebrations where people genuinely connect, engage and remember what was discussed.
Choosing the right small event venue in London is what turns those moments into something memorable. At Surveyors House in the heart of Westminster, focused and mid-size events are never treated as secondary. They are the reason the venue works so well.
One of the biggest differences clients notice here is that their event becomes the focus of the day. A conference for 100 guests is the main event in the building, not a smaller booking placed in a side room while a larger convention takes over the venue next door.
That changes the atmosphere completely. Guests are welcomed into a calm, organised environment with a dedicated team, focused event spaces and a natural flow designed around the size and purpose of the occasion. There are no crowded hotel lobbies, no confusing routes through endless corridors and no competing noise from larger groups sharing the same space.
Surveyors House works particularly well for events where engagement and interaction matter, from meetings and away days in Westminster to workshops, training sessions and assessment centres. Our ground floor rooms offer a private, practical setup. The Brussels Room works as the main presentation space for up to 55 guests, while three nearby breakout rooms each seat 10 to 14 guests boardroom-style. Because the rooms are grouped together in a separate wing close to reception, the day feels smooth and easy to navigate. People spend less time finding their way and more time focusing on the purpose of the event.
For conferences and larger gatherings, the Lecture Hall and Council Chamber seat up to 100 guests theatre-style, or 180 standing for receptions and celebrations. The wing is self-contained and private, with the Lecture Hall offering built-in AV, staging and natural daylight: everything needed to deliver presentations professionally without overcomplicating the setup. The adjoining foyer and Council Chamber create a natural space for catering, networking and breaks, keeping the day flowing without guests constantly moving between disconnected areas.
Location plays a huge role in how an event feels. Before guests even arrive, they are walking through one of the most iconic parts of London, surrounded by Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey, Horse Guards Parade and the nearby Royal Parks.
The journey in feels considered from the start. Guests arrive through a large marble reception lobby with dedicated registration desks and cloakroom facilities, before being guided naturally towards the event spaces. The building is welcoming and easy to navigate, with none of the feeling of being lost inside a vast conference centre.
For smaller executive meetings or private dining, the fifth-floor President Dining Room and terrace offer something different again. Seating up to 20 guests boardroom-style or 35 standing, the space feels exclusive and private, set apart from the rest of the venue and overlooking some of London’s most recognisable landmarks. It is the kind of setting that quietly elevates a client meeting or leadership dinner into something more memorable.
Surveyors House sits at 12 Great George Street, London SW1P 3AD, beside Parliament Square and a short walk from both Westminster and St James’s Park Underground stations.
Next door, Westminster Rooms at No.11 offers a completely different style of event experience. Set inside a boutique Edwardian townhouse, the venue feels more like a private London residence than a traditional event space. From the street it almost looks like a doll’s house tucked between Westminster’s historic façades, yet inside the rooms open into elegant spaces with royal blue and gold finishes, fitted bars on both floors and character in every corner.
The townhouse can be hired exclusively for up to 150 guests across both floors, creating a private and flexible setting in central London. Individual floors can also be used separately for up to 90 guests standing, while one of the rooms hosts private dining for up to 60. Flexible layouts make the space equally suited to smaller gatherings, with private dining setups available from as few as 10 guests.
It works particularly well for product showcases, media events, networking receptions, breakfast meetings and intimate celebrations, especially for brands looking for somewhere with personality: welcoming, impressive and distinctly London without feeling corporate.
Good event catering should keep guests energised and engaged throughout the day, not leave them flagging by mid-afternoon. Our event menus are built around exactly that, with the flexibility to match the format, pace and budget of your day.
Lighter, wholefood-based options sit alongside more traditional choices, using quality seasonal ingredients, plant-led dishes, wholegrains and natural energy sources that support concentration and wellbeing. Whether it is breakfast, a working lunch, networking drinks or a private dinner overlooking Westminster, the food keeps its sense of occasion while fitting naturally into a modern business event.
There is a growing shift towards events that are more focused, more intentional and more personal. Sometimes a business simply does not need the scale of a major convention. What it needs is a venue that understands the importance of the people in the room, creates the right environment for meaningful conversation and makes the whole experience feel effortless.
That is exactly what Surveyors House is designed for. Here, smaller and mid-size events are never an afterthought. They are the reason the venue works so well.
Whether you are planning a board meeting, an away day, a training session or a milestone celebration, our team will help you shape an event around your numbers, format and budget.
